On Unexpected Compliments

This week, a new coworker said that my previous counterpart (who had left because of me, some had said; they knew each other from a previous job) had identified me as 'the best scripter he'd ever seen'.

(Allow me to qualify that. I know that I'm good at scripting LDAP and Windows, but I still need to work on other platforms and paradigms.)

I was stunned; I didn't know what to say. I mean, I know that he must have said plenty of other things, not likely to be so complimentary. But any compliment from him was unexpected.

It's nice to hear that a peer thinks that, especially since this is a fairly new skill of mine.
